The Junior Lifeguard Club was created by the Lifesaving Society with the goal of giving teenagers between the ages of 8 years and 15 years the chance to develop leadership and teamwork skills amongst their peers.
Junior Lifeguard Club members are encouraged to develop skills based on personal bests in swimming, lifesaving, water safety knowledge and physical fitness while having fun in a safe, aquatic environment. This program provides high activity challenges in an energetic ‘club’ atmosphere both on deck and in the pool.
What are the prerequisites to join?
Official Waterlogs and Recognition Seals are tools to support and recognize participant’s personal bests. Members log each goal in their individual Waterlog. Members will receive Recognition Seals based upon their personnel bests in each program category.
The following are the program categories for individual goal setting and recognition seals:
These skills and activities are taught by a Lifesaving Society Instructor (LSI) and each club member will set individual goals and work with their Coach/Instructor in order to achieve them.
Registration can be made in person at the Aquatic Centre Front Desk or by phone at 403-934-3325.
The Strathmore Aquatic Centre would like to thank the Strathmore Lions Club for purchasing and donating the equipment needed, as well as certifying the instructors needed, in order to run this program here at our facility. Their kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated.
